The stories go
on the wall.
Challenge Accepted, Challenge Returned connects communities with individual veteran stories through shared experiences, education and adventure. It was founded by James Browning, who served 22 years in the U.S. Army, to make sure the people who did not come home are not forgotten, and that the people who did have somewhere to put what they carry.
The brewery is where that happens in public. Browning calls it a living museum: memorabilia spanning decades, challenge coins traded across the bar, and veterans' stories posted on the walls for anyone to stop and read. As he puts it, it is an opportunity to say that my story matters.
Walk in and you'll see it
The walls
Veterans' stories and military memorabilia through the taproom, changed and added to as people bring their own in.
Challenge coins
Coins exchanged across the bar, the way they always have been.
Rides and fundraisers
Events run with the veteran community, including a motorcycle ride with Lowcountry Harley-Davidson and a 5K in support of 22 Until None, which works on veteran suicide prevention.
